Over the years, the basic pay structure of Central Government employees in India has undergone significant revisions through various Central Pay Commissions (CPC). These commissions are constituted periodically by the Government of India to review and recommend changes in salary structures, allowances, and other service conditions for government employees, ensuring parity with the evolving economic environment and cost of living.
